Practicing 9-1-1

We believe in the teachable moment. Last night we talked about 1 Timothy in our Bible time.  That he was a young boy like them at one time and he grew under the Godly teaching of his mother and grandmother. There were things that they KNOW about mommy.  They called off the answers quick.  We told them that they can KNOW things about God the same way as they read the Bible.  We then went into our bed time story.
This is the book that little man picked from the library.  It talked about knowing your phone number, address and how to call 9-1-1.  So we took the moment.  Tell us your phone number.  They did.  Little sweetie still working on the numbers.  What is your address?  Where do you live?  Here was little sweeties response. Okay so that needs a little work.  We practiced our address.  Then we talked about calling 9-1-1.  So daddy fell on the bed and pretended that he would not wake up. Little sweetie went first.  We went through all of the steps.  Daddy sat up and it was little man's turn.  Little man could not start.  He insisted that daddy had to be flat on the bed.  We chuckled and then daddy complied.

We have a play phone and we practiced. Our daddy put red on the numbers.  The way little man's mind works. I thought we better try the real phone.  Thinking everyone just might run to the play phone in an emergency. I also wanted them to hear the dial tone, so it wouldn't scare them.  We showed them the numbers on the phone.
Daddy put red on these numbers as well.  They were instructed to never call unless it was an emergency.

A good learning lesson that we had not planned.  We work on taking those teachable moment. Physical as well as spiritual.  Time is going so fast.  One day at a time with God's help.
